New Orleans rapper Curren$y introduces “lifestyle raps” in The Stoned Immaculate. A bundle of 13 records includes crescendo violins, grand piano and crackling bass. Features include Wale, Wiz Khalifa, Big K.R.I.T, Pharrell, Estelle and others. The Stoned Immaculate is simply cruise control music. No need to skip, fast forward or pause. Lead single “What It Look Like” featuring Wale ignites the en route feeling towards a direction you’re not quite sure where, but you know its dope.
Curren$y has always seemed to curate an elaborate, hood vision while successfully translating to the masses. Jet Life, a phrase repeatedly transposed throughout the record, rightfully more than the title of the final track. If you are a fan of Curren$y‘s previous tapes you will not be disappointed with The Stoned Immaculate. Conjectured thoughts may have assumed the album would lack a radio single (other than “What It Look Like”), but surprisingly “That’s The Thing” featuring Brit songstress Estelle is a sure candidate. And is the “separator record” from his prior tapes.
